The following statement was released on October 16, 2015 by the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and Jewish Reconstructionist Communities:
We stand in support of Israel this Shabbat, alongside the Reform, Conservative and Orthodox movements. We pray for the peace and safety of Jerusalem, all Israel and their residents.
"While the North American Jewish community may not always see eye-to-eye regarding how to best bring about an ideal future for the State of Israel and the Jewish people overall, today we mourn together for the victims and with the families of the recent attacks that have brought terror to the streets of Israel. We unequivocally denounce this violence and believe that those responsible should be held accountable."
--Rabbi Deborah Waxman, Ph.D., president of Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and Jewish Reconstructionist Communities, cited from yesterday's Times of Israel article.
We encourage you to take a moment this Shabbat—individually and with your communities—to send your hopes and prayers toward Israel. May the hope represented by the rainbow in this week’s parasha, Noach, come swiftly for all of us.
