CBCO conferenceMany JRF rabbis and lay-leaders plan to be in Santa Clara, California, from Sunday, February 11 through midday Tuesday, February 13, 2007, for the K’hilot K’doshot: Holy Congregations, Just Communities, the second national gathering of synagogues involved in Congregation-Based Community Organizing (CBCO), sponsored by the Jewish Funds for Justice (JFSJ).
The National Gathering will be a unique opportunity to create a temporary community composed of synagogue leaders, clergy, organizers, and other faith leaders who are working to weave congregation-based community organizing into the Jewish community.
There, we will network, deepen our leadership and organizing skills, celebrate our successes and learn from our failures. Our work together will enable us to return to our local synagogue communities with more knowledge, better skills and the resources to engage in more effective CBCO work.
For more information, continue reading below, and/or contact Rabbi Shawn Zevit at JRF, 215-782-8500, ex.24.

Participating in K'hilot K'doshot:
One of the highlights of the K'hilot K'doshot National Gathering is the opportunity to create a temporary community of synagogue leaders, clergy, organizers, and other faith leaders who are working to weave congregation-based community organizing into the Jewish community.
We will network, deepen our leadership and organizing skills, celebrate our successes and learn from our failures. Our work together will enable us to return to our local synagogue communities with more knowledge, better skills and the resources to engage in more effective CBCO work. We ask you to contribute to the creation of this dynamic community by:
Committing to actively participate in the full conference (beginning Sunday, February 11 at 2pm, and ending on Tuesday, February 13 at 2pm); and
Attending K'hilot K'doshot as a part of a synagogue team consisting of a minimum of two congregants and one clergy member to best ensure your ability to bring newly developed skills, knowledge, and networks back to your local synagogue community.
Past participants have stated that attending as part of a team greatly enhanced their learning and helped ensure that a core leadership team returned to their home synagogue energized to take action.
