This summer, from Sunday, August 12 to Friday, August 17, 2007, teams of post-B'nai Mitzvah teens and their parents are invited to share a week working together to make a difference. Participants will meet at Camp JRF: The Aaron and Marjorie Ziegelman Campus in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains, and will travel to Wilkes Barre, PA, where they will provide much needed assistance with a variety of carpentry, building repair, home rehabilitation, and light construction projects.

Working side by side, parents will have an opportunity to model the caring and activist values they hold; and young teens will experience the power of their own potential to make a difference in the larger world—living together in active, participatory community. Coordinated by the Jewish Reconstructionist Federation, the project is modeled on other successful family work projects and developed in consultation with the Jewish Coalition for Service and the United Methodist Urban Ministry.

Tuition: $225 for adults, $180 for teens includes vegetarian meals and lodging. Enrollment is requested by March 26th, and is currently open for 30–40 adult/teen teams (post-B’nai Mitzvah ages 13 and above; teams may include one or two parents). The week will include time for reflection, journaling, and discussions about Jewish values.
